Player Abilities
Player Traits
Player Traits are racial specific abilities that provide passive buffs or active skills to your character. Different races are given different traits, as well as allowing for some traits of the player’s choosing during character creation.
Player Skills
Player Skills are upgradeable skills that provide passive buffs to Bridge Officer Skills, Kit abilities, Player Leveled Abilities and other skills.
Player Skills of high enough levels also unlock the ability to train Bridge Officers corresponding Bridge Officer Skills. (continue reading…)

Proposal:
Add “scanning” to the game STO.
Details:
This feature would allow players to gather intel on opposing ships. This is NOT limited to science ships or science captains. All players can do this. A consoles is an item that augments starship systems and increases starship abilities by increasing various skills.

A console also refers to spots to which bridge officers are assigned, so that the bridge officers may use their own abilities during space combat. You may only use as many bridge officers on your ship as there are available console spots. (continue reading…)

Well, since my old thread fell victim to the archive gods (just short of 20,000 views!), it looks like I need to start a fresh thread.

As a fair few are aware, I have been creating a ship tier chart for STO to help show all the ships stats all on one images to help people decide what ships they want and to help them plan what Bridge officers they need and how many space skills they have (most tier 5 have 12 skills spread over 5 officers). Cannons:

Cannons have a 1 second global cooldown, this means no you cannot fire them all together for one big alpha and see that flag ship die in a second. It means you have to fire them alternately every one second, for high sustained DPS. If you want the flexibility of being able to do big burst damage, go beams, or use turrets as they are cannon beam hybrids (cannon style bolts with cannon skill boosts and boffs, but with beam firing mechanics so can be fired together with higher power consumption) (continue reading…)
